Mother's Day Dinner

Since Andrew works on Sundays, we celebrated Mother's Day on Saturday, which happens to be Mother's Day in Mexico. So, feliz dia de la madre! We took a trip to The Cloisters and had a marvelous time walking around in the warm weather. Andrew made an amazing four course dinner that was the perfect end to a lovely day. There were a few grumpies and a few messes, but overall the kids were great today and that's gift enough for me! Fingers crossed that they behave similarly tomorrow when I don't have my relief pitcher around.

The CSA that I participate in at work is back so we have a wealth of local, organic fruits and veggies around. Andrew made great use of them in this meal. First, however, he prepped and put away the veggies like he would at work, so our fridge looked so organized.

Perhaps the best surprise of the evening was that Andrew got out our good china. We've never eaten on it and it made the meal feel that much more special.

Arugula and baby spinach salad with beets, apples,
Fior di Caprino goat cheese, and red onion.

Spring pea risotto with La Robiola Osella. We like ours soupy!

Black cod with arugula pesto, chili flakes, turnips, and ramps.
Andrew thought the fish would hold up better and he's
a little embarrassed that I'm posting a picture of it. It
was delicious despite it's rough appearance.

Strawberry gelato with fresh Harry's Berries** strawberries
 and fresh whipped cream.

**Andrew loves these organic strawberries so much he wants you to go out and buy them. They are really quite delicious.
