- A nice car nap is important to getting as much out of the game as possible.
- He can hang with the super fans. In fact, his enthusiasm earns him the respect and admiration of the rowdy, obviously-intoxicated-from-tail-gating young men chanting and yelling next to us.
- He's exceptionally good at sitting still in his seat when he has a Jumbotron to look at.
- He can eat almost an entire box of popcorn by himself.
- He has a crazy victory dance. The one below is not even the craziest, but I didn't think to record any of the earlier ones.
- He enjoys coming up with his own taunts for the opposing team. Deston eschewed "Crosby sucks" for "Crosby is a baby." (Major sporting events are not great places to find examples of sportsmanship. At least not in the stands.) Going to events like these where bad sportsmanship is the norm necessitates some extra conversations about how to be a good fan and a good person at the same time.
- He must be a good luck charm for the Flyers. The Flyers have won both games he's attended. They should give us free tickets!
- He and his father glow with an aura of sporterly bliss. There's arena-sized bonding that happens between fathers and their children at events like these.
A few other notes about our trip to see the Flyers play. Both hockey games I've ever been to have seen the Flyers facing the Penguins. Sitting in box seats at the VERY top of the arena is not fun for someone who's afraid of heights! I actually felt queasy and held onto Deston's shirt for much of the game because it seemed clear to me he was going to manage to fall over the flimsy plexiglass barrier.

We'll never again make it out of Philly without a stop at Pat's. I had a picture of Drew with a cheesesteak, but he vetoed it, so here's some skyline.
