Birthday Cupcakes

If my memory serves, these are the first cupcakes I've ever made. It's a basic recipe from Martha Stewart. The icing is Nigella Lawson's Royal Icing. Mom-mom's birthday (aka, Janet) was the occasion that inspired this romp in the kitchen. For a first try, I think they turned out pretty well; I'm not sure I'd use this recipe again. Since I'm new to the world of cupcakes, I'm eager to try a variety of recipes.
